In this, the Cheshire’s Year of Gardens 08, we bring you the fifth annual Art in the Garden Exhibition. The gardens of Leckonby Cottage bordering the canal, will, yet again, provide the beautiful setting for another all new collection of works produced by a wide range of artists from professionals to first-timers. Each year holds a special surprise (last year was the giant sand sculpture), so this year, to fit in with our scarecrow theme, come and see the enormous garden gnome made from balloons! The balloon artist ‘Flash’ (aka Rupert Appleyard) will create his balloon sculpture on the first Saturday of the exhibition, and then the challenge will be to see if the gnome can survive a week of British Summer weather.
The Art Garden will again be preceded by workshops - this year in printing and batik - to allow enthusiastic amateurs to create and then exhibit their work alongside that of members of Cheshire Artists Network and student works from Youth Club members and local art colleges. There will be plenty of work for sale too, including the ever popular items produced in the workshops at Risley Prison.
Access to Leckonby Cottage is via the canal towpath just beyond Brookfield Bridge (join towpath at bridge in village centre or opposite Davies Way car park and head west) or up the driveway of 11 Whitbarrow Road (pedestrian access only, except for disabled visitors for whom special arrangements can be made by calling 01925 754080).

The exhibition is always a hit with children - it’s a great place for explorers - and we also welcome group visits by arrangement, from schools, cubs, brownies or sketching parties (Call 01925 754080).
