The Festival regular, Our Favourite Poems, is on Friday 23rd June and the organiser, Glynn Roberts, is looking for your suggestions and requests for the evening’s programme. Here is a message from him:
Dear Poetry Fan
Our Favourite Poems Methodist Church Eagle Brow
7.30 P.M. Friday June 23rd 2017
Notice the date? The fateful anniversary? Yes, it’s our poetry referendum again. This year we’ve booked the night after the Food Fest for our rich and flavoursome word fest.
So it’s time for you to send us your requests. We like the comfort of the old favourites and the shock of the new as well. Astonish us with a wide choice, whether it’s a giggle or a groan, a gasp or a sigh, light or dark. We’ll do our best to share its full force with you and our audience
Your readers will again be Sue Dodd, Michael Burgess, Nick Johnson and Glyn Roberts.
Please let me or one of my reader colleagues have your requests by email, post or phone (leave a message if I’m out). There will also be a box in the library for suggestions. Please include your contact details in case I need your help in getting hold of a text.
I would really appreciate it if you could let me have your requests early, but no later than Thursday June 8th. That will give us time to weave a sequence, share out the poems and make clear copies so that the readers can prepare their presentations.
Details are included in the Festival programme. We will also put posters on the village notice boards to publicise the event. Please mention it to your friends and encourage them to come to the readings and to send in requests.
The entry price for the evening will be £6. See the festival programme for booking in advance, or pay on the door.
I look forward to seeing you on June 23rd, and to receiving meantime the ingredients for another banquet of beauty and buffoonery.
