Lymm Festival 2008

Last year we had the first Stand-up Comedy Night, and it was an instant hit. During the winter, for the first time, the Festival has run Comedy Nights at the Spread and they were sell-outs every time. This event is almost certainly going to live up to the high standard already set.

Compered by Rob Riley, a regular MC and stand-up, known for his topical material, great timing and cracking punch lines, the evening also features Chris Roche and Ste Porter, two comics who have made a name on the circuit in recent years and will build up a good head of comic steam in preparation for the headline act - Mike Newall. Manchester has a rich comedy heritage, seemingly able to produce iconic comedians quite effortlessly. Mike Newall is certainly the latest, and could even go on to become the greatest. A gentle, amiable power-house of a comic, Mike’s timing is the envy of performers with ten times the experience and is living proof that you can’t learn to be funny, some people just are. Since making his debut in 2003, he has toured the country honing his skills and is now a force to be reckoned with.
