Another wonderful evening with Terry Waite.
Set in the delightful venue of the Lymm Hotel, this show will take place in one of the event suites, with professional staging, sound and lighting. There is a separate, very comfortable lounge, bar and dining room; so why not make an evening of it and have a ‘delicious’ experience sampling some of the delightful evening meals or snacks available. Ample free car parking on site.
Terry Waite has had an extraordinary life and on Wednesday 28th June he will be talking about his latest book ‘Out Of The Silence’.
The book is a collection of poems he has written linked together by an autobiographical narrative. In an unusual way they record some of the events that have shaped his life and thoughts over the past thirty years or more. The book has been simply illustrated with pencil sketches by Jenny Coles.
Throughout a life of incident and commitment, Terry Waite has recorded his feelings in simple and poignant prose and poetry. It is a record of a unique sensibility – Joan Bakewell, DBE, Writer and Broadcaster.
I read and reread ‘Out Of The Silence’. I am still reading it! Terry Waite’s thoughts and questions are totally compelling, whether in prose or in verse. – Vanessa Redgrave CBE, Actor
Terry Waite will be introduced by Jim Hancock and the evening will include a Questions and Answers session and a book signing session. Copies of Taken On Trust and The Voyage of The Golden Handshake will also be available at the book signing session.
Terry Waite (born 1939), an official of the Church of England, made three trips to Lebanon in an effort to free westerners held hostage there. On his third try in 1987, he himself was taken hostage and not freed until almost five years later.
