Exhibitions at Lymm Festival

THE BIG PICTURE
Thursday 28th June
On show at the Street Fun and Food Fest, The Cross, Lymm*.

Following the success of our first BIG PICTURE last year, the Festival will be hosting this spectacular event again! Another well known painting will be recreated on a gigantic scale by dozens of enthusiastic artists and there will be great excitement when the huge painting is revealed to all at the Street Fun and Food Fest. Special thanks are due to the 3rd Lymm Scouts for their help.

COTEBROOK ART EXHIBITION
Thursday 28th June - Sunday 8th July
Cotebrook Day Centre, Oughtrington Lane, Lymm*. 11am – 3.30pm. Free.

A colourful and lively exhibition showing the delightful works of art and craft produced by the residents and clients of the Cotebrook Day Centre. It is an ideal opportunity to see what wonderful work is done in the Art Room, and realise that there are no such words as “can’t do” here.

LYMM ARTISTS
Saturday 30th June - Tuesday 3rd July
Village Hall Annexe, Pepper Street, Lymm*. 10am – 5pm. Free

The Lymm Artists are pleased to support the Lymm Festival with their annual Summer Show. Individual members of the group follow successful careers as professional artists, exhibiting in many parts of the country. As always, they present a diverse collection of traditional and contemporary styles in a variety
of media, including oils, watercolours, acrylics, etchings and textile art. The work will be for sale until 3rd July.

MANCHESTER BONSAI SOCIETY ANNUAL SHOW
Saturday 30th June
United Reform Church, Brookfield Road , Lymm*. 10am – 4pm.
£2, £1 (concs.) Pay at the door. Under 12’s Free.
Refreshments available.

This will be a spectacular display of Bonsai – the smallest trees in the world!! – by Manchester Bonsai Society, Silver and Silver Gilt medal winners at the Royal Horticultural Society Show at Tatton Park and Southport Flower Show. Hundreds of trees of many species will be on show, ranging from first class specimen trees to the work of beginners.

There will be demonstrations and members on hand to offer advice, especially to those who want to take up the hobby, plus a sales table where you can buy tools, equipment and material to get you started.

CALLIGRAPHY INC
Saturday 30th June
Village Hall, Pepper Street, Lymm*. 10am – 4pm. Free

The craft of Calligraphy, has roots that stretch back into the mists of time. The techniques, tools, materials and some of the letter forms are much the same now as they were in the Middle Ages and before, but this does not mean that calligraphy has no part to play in modern world.

Calligraphy Inc., a small group, with skills ranging from beginners to professional level, is aware the need to maintain the traditions of centuries of fine writing, while constantly ensuring that the art moves seamlessly into the 21st Century. For this, their first, exhibition, William Shakespeare will be the common theme, along with a variety of other work produced for commissions, examinations and just for pleasure. New members are always welcome.

L'IMAGE - THE FESTIVAL PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION
Wednesday 4th July - Sunday 8th July
Village Hall Annexe, Pepper Street, Lymm*.
Wednesday 4th 1pm – 5pm.
Thurs 5th – Sat 7th 10am – 5pm.
Sunday 8th 11am – 2pm. Free

An exhibition of the short-listed entries to the Festival Photographic Competition, with six categories being represented. The subject matter for the categories ranges from ‘Heritage’ and ‘Lymm@play’ to monochrome images and a junior category.. The display is open for the 2nd part of the Festival week and judging will take place on the Wednesday evening.

MAPLE LODGE ART GROUP
Saturday 7th July
Village Hall, Pepper Street, Lymm*. 10am – 4pm. Free
Refreshments available.

An exhibition and sale of work by Maple Lodge Art Group. There will also be craft items on sale, cards, notelets etc.

Some members will be demonstrating their technique at watercolour and pastel art.

You are warmly invited to come and view the variety of work produced by members of this group, and learn more about the members.
