O'YE! O'YE! O'YE! - THE FESTIVAL TOWN CRIER COMPETITION
Saturday 7th July
10.30am – Meet in the Village Hall*
for the draw.
11am – 1st round of competition
at the Cross*
12noon – 2nd round of
competition in the Beer Garden
of the Spread Eagle Hotel*.
Lunch for the competitors, and judges
deliberations, followed by prize-giving.
After the great success of last year’s
competition with 9 Town Criers and their
consorts coming from different parts of the
country, Lymm’s own Crier Peter Powell
felt that this should become a regular event.
Dressed in their finest, uniquely designed,
costumes, and with voices loud enough to shake
the pigeons off the roofs, the competitors will
declaim on the subject of their own home town or village. The second round cry is on a subject
that will be given to them beforehand, and they
will be judged on clarity, entertainment value,
content and volume.
Come along to the village centre and enjoy
a spectacle which will amaze and amuse you – but be prepared to be deafened!
