Toxins Holiday Camp, just down the coast.

A Comedy of Errors
Friday 29th June
Oddsocks Productions,
Cotebrook House,
Oughtrington Lane, Lymm*.
(please use High School car park opposite)
6.30pm. £8 adults , £4 children.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Outdoor performance. Bring rug or fold-away chair,
and own refreshment if desired. Ice cream available
provided by Ash Farm, Dunham Massey.
Oddsocks Productions return this summer
with another helping of the carefully
constructed comic chaos which has ensured
this internationally acclaimed company a loyal
following since 1993.
This time the company’s unique wagon-stage
will transform into the distant, mystical city
of Ephesus, from where Shakespeare’s most
farcical story; “The Comedy of Errors” will
unfold.
A servant and his master from far off Syracuse
arrive in Ephesus in search of their long-lost
twin brothers. In no time at all they are
trapped in a terrifying chain of chaotic events.
Tormented by a wild wife and a moody mistress
- challenged by a crazy jeweller and damned by
a demonic doctor, the terrified twosome run
headlong into a climactic happy ending which
defies all probability.
If you only like your Shakespeare straight, this is
not for you. If you want to have lots of fun, this
should not be missed! A great introduction to
Shakespeare for children 7 years and older.
Our thanks go to the residents and staff of
Cotebrook House for their hospitality.

3 Comics at the Spread
Thursday 3rd July
Upstairs at the Spread Eagle Hotel,
Eagle Brow, Lymm.
8pm. £7. Bar facilities.
Enjoy a rip-roaring evening of stand up comedy
with three of the best comedians on the
circuit. Compered by Bill Woolland whose
observational and chatty style encourages
audience interaction and whose comedy is
witty, topical, and quite simply very funny. He
will be followed by Karen Bayley, currently
enjoying huge success at the comedy clubs.
Her bold no nonsense attitude strikes a perfect
pitch with men and women alike, and she was
the first woman to win the gong show at The
Comedy Store. The final act is Greg Cook who is unafraid to use bang-up-to-date topical
material, with gags hewn from the previous
days’ headlines alongside his more polished
flights of fancy in which he creates an absurd
world where he rubs shoulders with the great
and the good. But then you might not hear
any of that, as Cook plays fast and loose with
styles, the surreal brainstorms being mixed with
painful puns and, a real novelty - straightforward
pub-style gags that he penned himself. Event Code 24

This event has become a firm favourite, with its
programme drawn up from the suggestions put

right tone to make the words spring to life, and
bring out the essence of the meaning behind
the words. As in previous years, the selection
will range between cerebral, romantic, witty and
nonsensical – some old favourites and some
more unusual.
Application forms are available in the library,
and should be submitted by June 9th at

The Tale of Gawain and the Green Knight

Upstairs at the Spread Eagle Hotel,
Eagle Brow, Lymm.
7.30pm. £6. Bar facilities.
All hail, Andy Harrop-Smith, the storyteller with
a personality larger than life and a storytelling
style to match! His re-working of this Authurian
tale invites us to marvel at the Green Knight’s
great green chopper, wonder how Sir Gawain
manages to keep his cod-piece intact when
confronted by the vampish Lady Bertilak and
ultimately to discover whether he keeps his
head when the odds are stacked against him. Or
will he thwart the dastardly villain? Performed in
costume, with some really rotten jokes thrown
in – you thought the pantomime season was
over? Oh no it isn’t! Event Code 26
