Festival Picnic
Saturday 7th July
7.00pm – midnight, Lymm Hall, Rectory Lane, Lymm*. Car park and entrance on May Queen Field, off Pepper Street.
£18 per head. Pre-booking essential.£15 extra per gazebo (Restricted number**). Maximum order of 6 tickets per household (Ticket holders must be at least 16 years old.)

The Picnic at Lymm Hall has become the highlight of the Festival and a sell out event. Set in the beautiful and spacious grounds of the Cottrill family home, the ambiance is relaxed and informal, and the entertainment is designed to complement the mood.

The evening will be compered in great style by Lymm resident Jim Hancock, previously the BBC’s North West political correspondent, now running a successful business facilitating conferences, and contributing to various high-profile journals on political matters. The music will be provided by the Mansfield Octet, eight young musicians now based in Sheffield but with several members from this area. They will play a variety of light classical and popular pieces, just the thing to accompany the wining and dining. To provide a change of pace, Simply Soul, an eight-piece soul and Latino band, who took the picnic by storm at their previous appearance, are back, with new lead singer DD Smith, who has followed on from the much missed Tony Cassidy.

From sandwiches in cling film to a Fortnum’s hamper, bring whatever you want to eat and drink.

NB: Barbeques are strictly forbidden.
**Due to the large numbers of gazebos being brought to the event, the committee has decided to restrict the number to prevent overcrowding and obstruction. A limited number of plots will be available on a first come, first served basis. No unauthorized personnel may enter Lymm Hall gardens to
erect gazebos before 7pm.

Please be aware that the house and grounds are a family home and, therefore, you should treat the place with respect. All litter from your picnic should be taken home.

Both competitions are sponsored by Lymm Life and prizes will be awarded on Sunday 8th July in the Sunken Garden, after Morning Stories,

Pick up a trail map and quiz sheet and enjoy identifying each one. If you get them all right you could be in for a prize. The theme this year is Heroes and Villains, so why not have plenty of fun creating a member of the scarecrow gang yourself – but will it be a first class goody or a really bad baddy? The more heroic or the more villainous the better!

Entry forms are available from the Library, Harrisons’s Business Supplies and Rushgreen Service Station or can be downloaded from www.lymmfestival.org.uk The prize giving will be Sunday 8th July at 12 noon, after the Morning Stories, in the Sunken Garden or in the Village Hall if wet.

Light Hearted Leaps
Thursday 28th June
Ravenbank Primary School, Pepper Street, Lymm*, with residents of Keate House. 10 – 11.30am.
Cherry Tree Primary School, Hardy Lane, Lymm*, with residents of Booths Hill House. 1.30 – 3pm. Free.

This lively and heart-warming event is the culmination of a dance, music and video project celebrating the youthfulness of young children and older adults.

Light Hearted Leaps is an inter-generational project consisting of 6 workshops looking at memories, and celebrating the future and one another through dance and music. The project has been running for a number of years in other areas in Cheshire, supported by Cheshire Dance and Cheshire County Council. This year, Lymm Festival was awarded a full grant from Awards for All in order to fund the project, which was postponed last year due to the illness of one of the artists. Light Hearted Leaps is directed by two Lymm residents; dance artist Jan Halloran and musician Carmel Clowes. It was filmed by Danny Williams and assisted by Jennifer Stokes.

Members of the community are warmly invited to attend the celebratory performances at the two schools and to watch the film. Lymm Festival is delighted to include this project in the programme. There are always groups within the community who are unable to participate as fully as they would wish, and it is hoped that this kind of inclusive event will be followed by others.
