January sees another Winter Warmer at the Spreadeagle with an evening of live music hosted by  Not Exactly Rocket Salad.  All local talent these musicians “found each other ” over various events at last year’s Lymm Festival and features Alan Williams on guitar and banjo, Sam Fletcher on accordion and Kerry Knight on double bass  plus Joe Bennett of “Cheap Cuts ” fame on percussion. “Not Exactly ” is a good description as the sound is part folk, part country, part indie, part blues. “The only filter is that it is a song that we all enjoy which gets us from Buddy Holly to more modern stuff like Loudon Wainwright  with some interesting diversions along the way”.  explained band member Sam Fletcher. The band are looking forward to being joined on the night by Michelle Holding and Bonz who bring fiddle and dobro in the musical equation. Check out their great sound here.

A bit about the band

Alan Williams’s name has been popping up for around four years at Lymm Festival events but he can also be heard regularly at The Cinnamon Club in Bowdon.  Alan is equally at home behind a keyboard singing Cole Porter songs or on guitar for a more folk and country style.  He recently dusted off his banjo and is threatening to play this too.

Sam Fletcher – Master of the accordion  – again a regular at music events around the village the band has harnessed his fantastic music ability to give the band a great country/folk sound.

Kerry Knight. The band’s foundation on double bass though there are rumours of many other instruments in the attic including a banjitar (look it up ).

Special guests:

Helen Monks – sensational voice – a huge hit at The Cinnamon Club in October at home with everything from Kate Bush to Joni Mitchell with plenty or her own songs too

Michelle Holding & Bonz – versatile duo who swap dobros, banjo, fiddle , guitar and harmonicas coupled with great harmony singing

Daniel Duffy -We  are very excited to have the opportunity to present Daniel – just turned sixteen – a guitar prodigy making his club debut. Just think you’ll tell your grandchildren you were there at his first gig.
