#LymmFest21 Live Online!
We created this video to launch Lymm Festival 21, after a year of ‘holding the light’.
With the cancellation of our physical Festival, it takes on a more poignant role: a tribute to what might have been, and a promise of what will come again.
The video features many familiar faces, whose hard work has allowed Lymm Festival to ‘hold the light’ online for another year.
Over eleven days, we offered masterclasses, talks, poetry, galleries and more, all from the comfort and safety of your own home.
The song was written by Committee member and Festival performer Paul Thompson, inspired by the theatre tradition of having a ‘ghost light’ on stage when closed: it brilliantly demonstrates the hope and patience that has guided the arts industry for over a year, as well as the creativity with which its members have responded.
Since its composition in December 2020, the song has been played frequently on the radio, used in a touching video by inclusive theatre company ‘Razed Roof’, and chosen as the finale for the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama’s ‘Keep Creating’ gala. It is performed here by Will Thompson and Becky Coote.
