St Mary’s Church Graveyard Tour

MEET THE WAIFS, THE WEALTHY AND THE WILLING ON A GRAVEYARD TOUR!

Hundreds of lives are commemorated on the headstones at St Mary’s churchyard. Each one has a story to tell, but for this event, we have had to make the difficult choice of just fifteen or so that especially deserve to be remembered.

Three were murder victims, two lost their lives in tragic circumstances in the two world wars. Then there were the fabulously wealthy and the grindingly poor. We remember too some of those who helped to build Lymm’s sense of civic pride over 100 years ago.

Finally, there is the story of the amazing feat of one blind man that had long been forgotten until recently rediscovered by the team at the Heritage Centre.

This walk offers a new perspective on Lymm history and is one that we hope will stay with you and that you will want to share with others.
