Ian Marks

Ian Marks

Festival Chair/Sponsorship,/ Data Protection/Committee & Trustee

Ian has been involved with the Festival  from the beginning and is proud of the fact that it was his original idea. He has been Chair since the start and is a Trustee of the Festival.

He has been a member of the Parish Council for more years than he cares to mention and is one of Lymm’s representatives on Warrington Borough Council. From 2006 to 2011 he was the leader of Warrington Council.

He has particular responsibility for Sponsorship of the Festival.

He is married to Pam and has lived in Lymm for over fifty years. They have two children and four grand-children. Before his retirement he worked as a senior manager in the glass industry.  Ian says, “It’s a privilege to chair such a team of enthusiasts. Each year we are keen to reach out to more people by putting on exciting enjoyable events”.

Sam moved to Lymm from Surrey 13 years ago. She met Toby, her husband in London even though he was living in Chorlton! They have 5 children between them, four of whom attended Lymm High School.

Sam is now retired but was an HR Director for Unilever, BBC, Pfizer, United Utilities, Britvic and the Co-op. You may have spotted her narrow boat at Oughtrington “Not HRD work”!

Sam is delighted to have joined the Festival Committee, having been a strong supporter of the event for years.

Ann Johnstone

Event Organiser/Committee/ ESG & Trustee

Ann, a retired Company Director, moved to Lymm in 1979 and has been an active member of the Festival Committee for nearly twenty years.

Throughout her working career Ann organised events and exhibitions and, when she joined the Committee, worked with the existing members taking over the lead role of the Festival’s very poplar FoodFest event and later, the Family Fun Day.

Ann is a Trustee of the Festival and a member of the Events Sub Group, which is a team working throughout the year to put together the 11-day Summer Festival programme of events and a selection of Winter Warmers. She supports other members of the Committee prior to, during and after the Festival.

Ann has two sons, one lives in Lymm and the other in Norway with her two grandchildren. She is a Lymm Parish Councillor, Chair of the Parish Environment Committee and is committed to looking at ways to improve the environment. She is a member of Lymm Jubilee WI and a volunteer room guide at Dunham Massey.

Chris Hamlin

Chris Hamlin

Treasurer/Committee/ESG & Trustee

Chris moved to Lymm in 1992 and joined Lymm Festival as Treasurer in 2003 after taking early retirement from Scottish Power. At the time, she felt it would be a good way to use her accounting skills as well as meeting people and getting involved with village life.

Over nearly twenty years, the Treasurer role has developed from the simple accounts of the early days to the more complex requirements of a Charity including responsibility for the Festival’s insurance and liaising with the Performing Rights Society. Consequently, this does lead to a busy time all year round and there’s never a dull moment.

Chris is also a Trustee of the Festival and a member of the Events Sub Group.

Carol Devine

Committee / Box Office / H&S / ESG

Born in Coventry, Carol moved to Manchester in 1979 to begin her training as a Registered Nurse.  After a busy and varied career including Box Office Assistant (Royal Exchange Theatre and Cornerhouse), Front of House (Opera House and Palace Theatres) and Runner (Granada TV), Carol retired from her main role in the NHS in Autumn 2019.

Having moved to Statham in 2013, Carol has been a regular supporter of Lymm Festival events and became a volunteer in 2015, joining the committee a couple of years later.

She leads on event co-ordination and Box Office sales, as well as overseeing our Health & Safety assessments.

Sam moved to Lymm in 2022, having visited friends here for many years, and simply fell in love with the village, the people and the sense of community. Originally qualifying as a social worker and  eventually becoming a Professor of social work, Sam is interested in contributing to the community of Lymm. Her passion for ‘all things art’ and participating in the Festival over many years has led her to get involved in the organising committee.

Sam is currently the Committee lead for the Friends of Lymm Festival

Fiona has lived in Lymm for over 40 years with her husband and two children.
She has recently retired following a career, firstly in the nuclear industry, and then, for nearly 30 years, as a Senior Knowledge Transfer Adviser for Innovate UK.

She joined the Festival Committee at the end of 2022. She has the role of Volunteer Organiser and is keen to support the team of volunteers to help everyone enjoy the Festival.

Adrian moved to Lymm in 2020 and joined the Committee in 2022 after semi-retiring following 39 years in the nuclear industry. He is now a part-time Professor at the University of Manchester.

He lives in Lymm with his partner Anne.

Carole Ormerod

Committee / Performing Rights Lead

Carole moved to Lymm with her family more than 25 years ago and has seen her children grow and thrive in this friendly and beautiful place.

She has worked across a number of industries – including hospitality, retail and drinks – in various leadership roles, and latterly through her own Consultancy Business.

After retiring, and with time to pursue her interests, Carole is hoping to bring her passion for art, craft and design to the work of the Festival Committee.
