Dr Stephen Barrett: The Great Moon Hoax 

Dr Stephen Barrett, Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Physics at Liverpool University – makes a welcome return to the Festival with another engaging and entertaining science talk. And what could be more topical than the subject of lunar exploration, given this year’s Artemis II mission to view the far side of the moon?

Ever since the (alleged!) moon landings of the late 1960s and 1970s, there has been controversy and speculation over whether or not they really took place as claimed. Dr Barrett will examine the evidence – and the speculation – on both sides of the debate and shed a little light on our most recent trip to the dark side of the moon.

One of Dr Barrett’s specialist subjects is astrophotography, so who better to give us a clear picture of the evidence on both sides of the never-ending moon landings debate?
